The Role
We are seeking a skilled ETP Chemist to manage and monitor Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and CPU operations in a distillery with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system. The role involves ensuring compliance, chemical dosing control, and optimal plant performance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control ETP & CPU operations (RO, UF, evaporator integration)
- Perform regular analysis of:
- pH, TDS, COD, BOD
- Suspended solids, conductivity
- Optimize chemical dosing:
- SMBS
- Antiscalant
- HCL / Caustic
- PAC / Polymers
- Monitor:
- RO feed, permeate, and reject quality
- UF performance and recovery
- Ensure ZLD compliance and environmental standards
- Maintain proper lab records and shift logsCoordinate with:
- Evaporation & distillation sections
- Identify and troubleshoot:
- Membrane fouling
- Scaling issues
- Efficiency drops
- Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals
Qualifications
Must have
- ITI / Diploma in Chemical / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering
- 2–5 years in ETP / STP / ZLD operations
- Experience in distillery / chemical / process industry preferred
Qualities
- Ability to interpret lab results and take corrective actions
- Strict adherence to ZLD norms and environmental regulations
- Safe handling of chemicals and effluent streams
- Maintain PPE and housekeeping standards
- Maintain process efficiency
- Ensure proper parameter control
- Ensure timely monitoring
- Follow safety guidelines
- Ability to work in rotational shifts
